What is marriage and family therapy?
My name is Jenn Lief and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Manhattan. I have worked with couples, families and individuals all within a systemic framework. I believe that all people have the ability to let go and the collaborative relationship between client and therapist can assist with this process. My experience also includes working with individuals in recovery as well as those who are dealing with trauma, stress, anxiety and depression.
People often ask: What should I expect from therapy?
Therapy should be a safe and judgment free space to examine aspects of your life. An ideal therapist should provide that space and real time feedback.

Jenn believes strongly in the family systems theory that looks at not only the individual but the system created by the family as a whole. Her work with clients is strengths based, person centered and recovery oriented. She uses a goal centered approach to determine and dissolve the blocks between clients and deeper connection.
Jenn holds an MAMFT from NorthCentral University and she is a trained psychotherapist. Jenn also holds a BA in Human Ecology, and MA in Liberal Studies and is the recipient of The Thomas J. Watson Foundation Fellowship, a one-year grant for independent study and travel outside The United States. She speaks conversational Italian.
Currently I accept Aetna, United Healthcare, Oscar and Oxford health insurance. I can also provide a superbill for clients who are utilizing out of network benefits. Please contact me for more information.
I am committed to providing a private practice experience for my clients. In order to achieve this attention to detail there is a limit to the number of clients I am able to work with each week. This allows me to provide the best possible care to those I work with.
Limited spaces are available for sliding scale clients at this time.
